I have been building this website since 2022. This consists of:
I grew up in Auckland and got a Bachelor's degree in Music. After experiencing Greece through an exchange program and immediately falling in love with the natural beauty, I found myself eager to stay for longer however after twenty failed applications where I could use my degree, I returned to New Zealand with my tail between my legs.
Back in New Zealand, I realized that a lot of people weren't working in fields for which they had earned degrees. I saw an electrician had a degree in mechanical engineering, and the chef at my favourite bakery was a trained farm hand.
Not that a vocation separate from what you studied is bad, but I wondered if there was a way to hone in on what you would be good at without having to meander for years and (hopefully) stumble there eventually.
Today, it's deemed normal to switch careers multiple times. It's also normal to enter an industry after being immersed in it for years in school, only to realize that your new job is not as interesting or motivating as you thought it would be.
That's why I want to help people find jobs that are better fits for them. Sometimes you only know how much you like a job after you try it. But sometimes it's possible to forecast what jobs you would like. This latter portion of jobs is the ones I want to focus on, and to help people get the best jobs for their careers.
Following my return to New Zealand, I promptly signed up for a Graduate Diploma in Computer Science, as I had found myself nurturing a growing interest in programming, and this led me down a new career path which I'm enjoying immensely today.
My purpose in making this website isn't because I want to entice you to a career in IT by charading a never-ending supply of high paying jobs in front of you, but to bring transparency and an honest understanding of the current industry as fuelled by quantitative figures rather than fickle opinions.
My hobbies are hiking, walking on the beach with Fiddle (my three year old toy poodle), and a weekly Catan game with friends.
I hope you find this website useful, and I hope you find your way in tech.
Ka mihi, ka kite wawe koe
